London - Arabstoday

Abdel Albari Atwan, Al Quds Alarabi Editor in Chief  and Mustafa Abdul Jalil, Head of NTC The Editor in Chief of “Al Quds Alarabi" newspaper, Abdel Bari Atwan, decided to file a lawsuit against the Head of the Libyan Transitional council, Mustafa Abdul Jalil, on charges of Libel and defamation , after Abdul  Jalil’s allegations in a press conference held on Saturday, September 3rd, where he claimed that Atwan had received monthly financial sum from Muammar Gaddafi, and that “ Al Quds Alarabi” newspaper has adopted Al-Gaddafi regime’s agenda.
Atwan said in a statement, which ‘Arabstoday’ received a copy of, that he has assigned a very famous law firm in London that is specialized in defamation cases, “Collyer Bristow” to deal with this case.
Where he added that the newspaper has given Abdul Jalil seven days to take back his word, publish an apology, and to provide financial compensation, for the damage he caused to his reputation.
Atwan confirmed that the "all what have been said by Abdul Jalil, and published by some newspapers and websites are false allegations
Mustafa Abdul Jalil’s attack on Atwan was in response to a question from an Israeli journalist during a press conference, and after an article written by Atwan criticizing the visit of the Transitional Assembly members to Israel.
