The support services department of the Sharjah Airport Authority recently organised a course about information technology security for its employees in collaboration with Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA.
The three-day course taught participants the latest techniques and methods to protect the authority’s information and data, and raising awareness on the importance of IT security and the role and responsibility of each employee in this regard.
The course was also aimed at teaching the proper practices to protect the Sharjah International Airport’s IT from cybercrimes including fraud, identity theft, malware, phishing or hacking among many more risks.
The quarterly bilingual course was designed for multilevel employees across several departments. It aims to specify the requirements for the highest quality of and best practices in IT security management, which help the authority in implementing the ISO 27001:2013.
Lamia Obaid Al Shamsi, Director of Support Services at the authority, said, "We ensure our staff are fully aware of the latest protocols in cybersecurity and customer service in order to ensure our passengers receive the very best experience when using Sharjah International Airport. Staff learnt the best practices to reduce risks in line with the National Cybersecurity Strategy introduced by the National Electronic Security Authority to ensure a safe ICT infrastructure."
