Lee Travel Consulting has been awarded the contract to establish a regional office in London for the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA). Leith Isaac, director of marketing for the authority commented from Port Moresby the capital of Papua New Guinea: “We have recently had a steady increase in Tourism from both the U.K. and Europe and feel strongly that this market will benefit from the services our own local office can offer.” Lee Travel Consulting won the contract against tough competition from over 20 marketing agencies who presented their strategies to the PNG team last November. The UK PNGTPA set-up will include Lee’s managing director Chris Lee, account director Robin Russell-Pavier and head of public relations Judy Feller. Papua New Guinea is now more easily accessible from Europe via the Far East and Australasia. Air Niugini operate regular services from Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Tokyo, Brisbane, Sydney and Cairns. In addition they have an intensive local route net with PNG. They are represented in the UK by Flight Directors. An increasing number of UK tour operators are featuring this fascinating country, which has many diverse experiences to offer the tourist. Legendary as a coveted destination for the ornithologist, Papua’s warm equatorial climate offers the perfect environment for all aquatic activities. For the diver there is a wealth of spectacular coral reefs to explore on the coastline, for the fishing enthusiast many miles of unspoilt rivers as well as coastal waters provide a challenging experience. The spectacular scenery offers the perfect environment for trekking, mountain climbing and bushwalker, ensuring the ultimate adventurers for the traveller.
