Muscat - Arab Today

Omantel, the first provider of integrated telecommunications services in the Sultanate, entered into an agreement with the Sultanate’s leading airports in Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, and Duqm to become the main network and smart solutions provider. This partnership aims at enhancing the performance of airports across the Sultanate, in all aspects especially safety and security.

Airports in Oman are connected to each other by a standardised network of fixed mobile telecommunications services, broadband internet services, and fiber optics provided by Omantel.

Omantel offers the latest technical solutions and telecommunication services for a number of institutions such as the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), Oman Air, as well as to SMEs operating within the airports. Upon completion, the project will allow for advanced fixed telecommunication capabilities and connectivity for all airports throughout the Sultanate and will provide greater efficiency and convenience for passengers and airport staff.

As per the agreement, Omantel will offer high-quality services in the air transport sector, including advanced mobile services and internet services. Additionally, the company will provide connectivity with ISDN technology to thousands of users, as well as Wi-Fi services for travelers and airport staff. Omantel is the only company within the Sultanate that offers fixed communications solutions and advanced communication technologies for the aviation sector in the country, which highlights the efficiency of advanced solutions offered by the company for this vital sector.

Omantel is working in collaboration with leading airports to ensure that they are equipped with the highest quality of fixed and mobile telecommunications solutions. The company is proud to have been selected as the partner for landmark destinations such as airports, and this reflects the confidence and trust Oman has placed in its cutting-edge telecom solutions. Airports are the gateway to any nation, and Omantel is committed to offer world-class technology and services to provide the best possible infrastructure offering seamless connectivity thereby improving the passenger experience.”

Underpinned by significant investments in telecom infrastructure, Omantel connects the most remote locations in the Sultanate to the rest of the world. Omantel is the Sultanate’s first and leading integrated telecommunications services provider, enabling digitalisation, allowing innovative ways of doing business and delivering a world of information, news and entertainment.

As demand for mobile and fixed broadband services continues to rise across the Sultanate, Omantel is investing heavily in network expansion and modernisation.
