American Airlines said it would inspect all of its jet bridges at Los Angeles International Airport following a jetway collapse that injured two people. Airline officials said it was unclear why the bridge collapsed Wednesday, injuring the captain and a passenger on Flight 557 as they exited a Boeing 737, the Los Angeles times reported. The pilot and passenger were stepping on a platform closest to the jet bridge when the incident occurred, American Airlines spokeswoman Rhonda Rathje said. Rathje said she did not know if the airline or the airport was responsible for inspection and maintenance of the jet bridges. "We're looking into everything right now," she said, "and should know more in a couple days." Officials said the two people fell at least 10 feet to the tarmac and complained of pain to their ankles, backs and necks. They were taken to hospitals. A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the agency would inspect the aircraft for any possible damage.
