Tourism Minister Khalid Ramy on Tuesday said his ministry attaches great importance to training and development of workers in the tourism sector.

During a meeting with the chairman of an Austrian company in the training field, the minister added that the quality of services provided to tourists is an important factor in their desire to re-visit Egypt.

The meeting dealt with ways to promote cooperation in the field of vocational training for workers in tourism field.

The number of hotel rooms being established is expected to grow in the coming years to 340.000 rooms, and these rooms need Egyptian professionally trained staff, the minister pointed out.

The Austrian company representatives briefed the minister on a planned project to establish a center of excellence in tourism and hospitality in Sharm El Sheikh, in cooperation with the Egyptian and Austrian governments.

The project aims to develop human resources skills for those who work in the tourism field.
