Manama - Arabstoday

Safi Airways, the international airline of Afghanistan, will launch new flights to Bahrain next month, the carrier said on Sunday. The new flight between Bahrain and Kabul will bring its number of destinations to four, the airline said in a statement. Slated to start on April 23 with three flights per week, the new route is part of a code share agreement with Bahrain's flag carrier Gulf Air which will operate an additional three flights per week. This follows Safi Airway's recent announcement of a new route between Abu Dhabi and Kabul. "Safi Airways is delighted to commence flight services to Bahrain," said Lloyd Carswell, chief commercial officer of Safi Airways. "The Gulf is an important market for us and it offers tremendous opportunities. We are pleased to be part of the expansion and development of this key region and we are continuing in our strategy to indentify new routes," he added. Samer Majali, CEO of Gulf Air, added: "We are confident this agreement will be a success and we look forward to facilitating business traffic between the two countries and as well as connecting passengers to the UK, Europe and The Americas."
