New York - Arab Today

Charles W. Massie’s ‘Pinned – A Kentucky True Crime’, released in March 2013, tells the story of Mark Casey, a mature man quietly living on disability in upstate New York, dreaming of relocating, and anticipating he will indeed be able to realize his plan upon receiving disability back pay owed to him. He is also an avid internet user and as a result connects with a woman, Roxie, who lives in Kentucky - one of the states Casey wanted to relocate to. Roxie manages to manipulate Casey to join her there; promising they can live together in bliss. But things with Roxie are not as they appear. Eventually, her aggressive behavior and substance abuse takes a toll on Casey. He decides to leave her after 6 short weeks. But by then it’s far too late, and before he can make his exit, he is arrested on false charges of domestic violence and drug possession. That is the background story. The newly released ‘Stains on the Gavel’ continues the tale as Book 2 of the series, which picks up on the day of Mark’s jury trial. The case against him is built on speculation only, with no evidence or witnesses. And yet, Mark is convicted just the same, for crimes he did not commit. Convicted by a legal system that is rife with back room deals and good ‘ol boys. He is immediately thrown in jail, with no consideration for his various physical problems. Every time he registers a complaint of health issues, he is transferred to another facility. There is the very real possibility that Mark could die if he does not receive treatment but in this world, he is left to fend for himself. This is the story of one man’s fight against the system; a system where personal greed and power seem to trump justice and fairness. It is the story of Mark’s perseverance in fighting against all odds to save his life, his good name and his desire to win his freedom. Readers can follow the story easily and at a rapid pace, because of a strong introduction and a series of flashback sequences in the book. This is a book that gives hope, when all around is hopelessness. Source: PRWEB
