Lauryn Hill took to Twitter Wednesday to ask for peace for the residents of Ferguson, Mo., following the fatal shooting of teenager Michael Brown on August 9 and the ensuing protests.
"Strange, the course of things. Peace for MO," Hill, 39, tweeted along with her song "Black Rage." The funky-soul track is set to the tune of "My Favorite Things," but its lyrics are packed with social criticisms.
Hill's post came a day after two people were shot and 31 arrested during an overnight protest in Ferguson. Protests have dissipated somewhat since, prompting Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to remove the National Guard from Ferguson on Thursday.
