The Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation (ECMMO) said it will increase fines on subway lawbreakers from 15 to 50 pounds as of Saturday.

Any subway commuter will be fined for not having a metro ticket, not inserting the ticket in the turnstile machine at the metro entrance gate and using an already-used ticket.

The fines also involve smoking, littering and begging inside the metro stations and carriages.

Also, vendors working without permits will be fined 100 pounds.
