Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday with whom he discussed peace, terrorism and war.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were also present for the meeting at Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel.
The UAE leader and the UN chief deliberated on the international efforts to end acts of violence and fighting in Syria, Yemen, Libya and Iraq and ensure a decent life for people, especially women and children.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid emphasised the UN's role in attaining peace in conflict zones, and expressed the regret of the UAE leadership, government and people for the loss of innocent lives.
The UN chief lauded the humanitarian and charitable assistance extended by the UAE to the poor and those affected by wars.
Also present at the meeting were H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation; H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Lana Zaki Nusseibah, Permanent Representative of the UAE in the UN.
