Qatar participated in the 16th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting held in Indonesian city of Bali, with a delegation headed by Minister of Administrative Development and Labor and Social Affairs Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi.
In a speech during the meeting, the minister said that the State of Qatar is sparing every effort towards supporting decent work for its citizens and expatriates to improve the well-being of its residents and their families in labor-sending countries, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
That has proceeded from the firm conviction of the State of Qatar under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of the importance of sustainable development as a key factor for the stability and prosperity of peoples, he added.
He also said that the decent work and the provision of protection and welfare of workers are one of the pillars of sustainable development in the State of Qatar which is proceeding confidently towards achieving its Vision 2030 that seeks to transform to a competitive knowledge-based economy in parallel with developing sources of income through economic diversification to realize sustainable growth policies.
The 16th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting of the International Labor Organization (ILO) brings together the ILO's tripartite constituents from throughout Asia, the Pacific and the Gulf and Arab states. Government ministers, representatives of workers' and employers' organizations, and academics from about 40 countries will discuss regional world-of-work priorities and the ILO's vision for realizing decent work from 2016 to 2021, QNA reported.
