Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki on Monday paid a visit to the Greek capital of Athens where he met with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his counterpart Nikos Kotzias.
Maliki briefed the Greek premier on the political developments in the Palestinian territories, according to a statement by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry.
He urged Greece to play a political role in the region and within the European Union.
For his part, Tsipras asserted his country's recognition of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and continued support in the international forums.
He added that Greece will recognize the Palestinian state in the appropriate time.
