Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received yesterday morning, Michael Bloomberg, founder and CEO of Bloomberg company and Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in the presence H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed and Bloomberg reviewed the role of media in boosting social, humanitarian and cultural communications among peoples and communities worldwide as well as the need for harnessing social networking in the development of communities and in the service of economy.
They also exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation, exchange expertise regarding urban development and highlighting historic and aesthetic aspects of cities.
Bloomberg, who is chairing the Future Cities Forum, being held at Armani Hotel at Burj Khalifa, Dubai, said, "Dubai is among the five most distinctive global cities in terms of its architecture, infrastructure, tourist attractions, cleanliness and stability in the light of overall stability in the UAE, not to mention the joy signs and happiness on the faces of residents who live in this remarkable city characterised by social and cultural fabric."
