Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr conferred on Monday with Executive Director of UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) David Grete Faremo on the necessary measures to boost cooperation over establishing an investment fund to support development plans in Egypt.
In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation said talks covered means of buttressing cooperation in propelling investment and business climate to help Egypt achieve its development plans. They also addressed the necessary measures to cooperate in establishing a fund to support development projects in Egypt and encourage youth initiatives.
They also discussed arrangements for the minister's participation in the high-level consultative council affiliate to the UN Social Impact Fund. Nasr has been chosen as the first Egyptian and African woman to join the council.
The minister asserted that she will work during her membership in the council on developing small- and medium-scale projects and economically empower women.
UNOPS director, for his part, voiced confidence that such initiative would contribute to enhancing the role of the private sector in development plans in Egypt, noting that UNDP would offer consultative services to emerging companies that will benefit from UN Social Impact Fund.
