President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with a delegation of bishops and representatives of the Middle Eastern Apostolic Churches in Australia and New Zealand on Thursday, the president’s office announced.
According to the presidency, the delegation presented its condolences to the Egyptian people during the meeting for the terrorist attack in Minya last Friday in which 29 Coptic Christians were killed.
The presidency added that the delegation expressed solidarity with Egypt and its people in facing terrorism, and their trust in Egypt’s ability to overcome obstacles and face terrorism.
President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s efforts to build friendly relationships with religious and spiritual leaders around the world and recounting at the same time at how overjoyed Egyptians by the visit of Pope Frances, the head of the Catholic Church, to Cairo in April.
The delegation of the Middle Eastern Apostolic Churches in Australia and New Zealand is headed by Bishop Robert Rabbat, the Melkite Greek-Catholic Eparch of Australia and New Zealand.
Nabila Makram, the minister of immigration and expatriate Egyptian affairs, also attended the meeting
