Culture Minister Abdullah Aubl said on Friday that his talks with the director of the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) in the Bahraini capital were successful and fruitful. Upon his arrival in Sana’a, Aubl said to Saba that a cooperation agreement was signed by Yemen and the ARC-WH. He pointed out that the agreement included providing assistance to Yemen for the restoration of historical buildings in the city of Zabid. The minister added the ARC-WH will send a technical team of experts in September in order to assess the special needs of renovating and improving Zabid city. He also said that Yemen will ask the UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee at its next meeting to be held in Qatar to remove Zabid from the List of World Heritage in Danger and keep it in the World Heritage List.
