Beijing - XINHUA

U.S. film director Oliver Stone has criticized the Japanese government over its attitude to the Second World War. While attending a ceremony to mark the 68th anniversary of the bombing of Japan's western city of Hiroshima, Stone said the Japanese government had failed to face up to its wartime history. Oliver Stone, U.S. Film Director, said, "There was also much talk of peace......who know history will disagree with me." My question to you is why......a peace-keeping force in the world. Japan, no." The director also said Japan needs to more completely apologize for its wartime acts, adding it should resist relying on military might to deal with security challenges. In recent years, some Japanese politicians have used the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima to stress Japan’s victimhood in the Second World War, while neglecting crimes committed by Japan’s militarists. Oscar-winning film-maker, Oliver Stone, has many credited movies, including Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July.
