President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa called for the need to promote the culture and values embedded in the Holy Quran, praising the role of agencies and organisations interested in Quran in this regard. This came as he met here today a delegation from the Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Award and the members of the Board of Directors of the Holy Quran Custody Society, led by Ishaaq Al Kooheji and CEO of Syed Junaid Alam Jaweed Mohammed. During the meeting, Shaikh Khalid pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain has, since the dawn of Islam, embraced the message of the Holy, established Koranic schools across its cities and villages and opened many Quaran memorization, tajweed (rules of recitation) and teaching centres. He added that the kingdom's wise leadership has always been interested in the promoting the values of the Holy Quran and issues directives to host functions and organisations concerned with it, citing the 2nd International Conference for Teaching the Holy Quran, due to be organised, under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowment and the Muslim World League's Holy Quran Memorization International Organization, under the theme of: "The Prophet's Approach in Teaching the Holy Quran." He also noted that the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs' project to print the "Kingdom of Bahrain's Quran" is the outcome of HM the King's directives. Shaikh Khalid praised the great role played by the Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Award, wishing those in charge of it every success. On their part, members of the delegation praised Shaikh Khalid's contributions and support of Islamic projects and establishments. It is worth noting that the Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Award, is among the most important international Quran contests. 47 people from all over the world are expected to take part in it, and its concluding ceremony will be held tomorrow, November 29th, under the patronage of HM the King's Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa at the Isa Cultural Centre.
