Qatar's Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad Al-Kawari launched on Monday the Fifth session of the State Award of Child's Literature. The award includes competitions in the fields of playwriting short stories, tutorial drama and photography, literary studies, music and lyrics as well as electronic games, the minister said in a press conference. "Since its inception in 2008, the award has contributed to the promotion of child literature across the Arab world; it aims to bring up a generation fully aware of their Arab and Islamic identity and cultural heritage," Dr. Al-Kawari pointed out. In this regard, Hanadi Moussa Zaynal, Secretary General of the Award, expressed gratitude to the Ministry for the support it provides and to Minister Al-Kawari for his care as well as financial and moral support. "The goal of the award is to encourage writers and artists from Qatar and the Arab world to produce outstanding works in literature and arts that could develop children's life experience and consolidate their sense of identity and belongingness," she added.
