Dubai - WAM

The Union Museum is to be set up on the location where the document for the inception of the UAE Federation was signed. And standing 120 metres above, flutters the second biggest UAE flag, measuring 20metres by 40metres. The architechtural influence behind the buildings design stems from the theme of the ‘Spirit of the Union’, emphasising the paramount importance of the Union Museum. With the upper part of building taking the shape of a falcon – official emblem of the UAE – planes flying over will be able to view its architechtural splendour. The overall structure emulates the two hands taking hold of the pearl, depicting the entwined hands of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Shaikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who laid the first nucleus for the establishment of the UAE federation. The pearl – locally known as “AL Dana” – portrays the UAE. Union House Museum symbolises the formation of the Union inception of the UAE and the continuity of its blessed march towards the future. The building comprises of five parts including the era of the renaissance and achievments made by the UAE in human, social, urban and economic development. The Museum aims to underscore the historic value of the location and the building and has been designed to serve as a centre of attraction for UAE citizens, expatriates and tourists. It urges people to get acquainted with the phases and challenges faced by the establishment of the UAE federation and showcases the achievements of the country over the years. It also aims to instill the concept and value of the Union in the hearts and minds of the Emiratis and the generations yet to come. The museum also documents the nature and lifestyle of the UAE inhabitants before the Federation, educating visitors on the culture of the Bedouins in the desert as well as the UAE people living by the sea.
