The deputy speaker of the Israeli Knesset, Moshe Feiglin, joined 16 settlers in breaking into the holy Al-Aqsa mosque on Sunday morning. The Israeli raid entered from the Mughrabi Gate, guarded by Israeli occupation forces.
Mahmoud Abu Atta, Media director of Al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and Heritage, stated that Feiglin toured different parts of Al-Aqsa and then ascended to the Dome of the Rock, remaining there for a period.
Abu Atta told ALRAY that Feiglin addressed the assembled settlers and performed Talmudic hymns all whilst surrounded by Israeli soldiers.
Since Sunday morning, Israeli forces had prevented Palestinian women from entering Al-Aqsa mosque and allowed only men aged over 50 years to enter. Abu Atta emphasised the state of high tension.
This latest incident comes in the wake of numerous raids on Al-Aqsa mosque by settlers and the practice of sexist and discriminatory refusal of Palestinian entry to this most holy site.
