Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour
Amman - MENA

Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Sunday met with President of Iraq's Islamic Supreme Council Ammar Al-Hakim, Petra reported.
During the meeting, they discussed Jordanian-Iraqi relations and ways to develop them in various fields, including common economic interests.
They also discussed political, security and economic challenges in the region and ways to address them.
The two sides stressed the importance of activating economic cooperation and taking advantage of the opportunities available and completing projects that were agreed upon between Jordan and Iraq.
The prime minister reiterated Jordan's support, led by King Abdullah II, to Iraq to restore its security and stability and enable it to overcome the difficult conditions, so that all Iraqis can enjoy security, peace and stability in their homeland.
Ensour pointed to the importance of building common economic interests to ensure the sustainability of the bilateral relationships.
He said that officials in both countries have met several times and exchanged visits. "We always sensed goodwill and fruitful cooperation to activate cooperation frameworks and build common interests between the two sides."
Ensour noted that political circumstances and the growth of extremism prevented the completion of a lot of economic projects agreed to by Jordan and Iraq, such as the railway project, the oil pipeline, the routes of trade and aviation and other strategic projects.
He called for the promotion of joint agreements at various levels, and for achieving common interest of the two countries.
Al-Hakim said historical ties and common interests join the two brotherly peoples of Iraq and Jordan.
He called for building a comprehensive strategic partnership, based on a specific timetable, for activating the principles of mutual cooperation with Jordan.
