The International Islamic Fiqh Academy denounced on Sunday banning Muslims in some parts of Xinjiang province, home to the mostly Muslim Uighur minority, from fasting from dusk to dawn during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement, the academy renewed a call for allowing Muslims in China to practice their religious rituals freely.
It also expressed rejection of all forms of oppression exercised against Muslims of Uighur in China, holding the UN, human rights bodies and Islamic states responsible for protecting rights of the Muslims in China.
It called on the international community to immediately interfere to end these repeated violations.
