Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa received here today the British Ambassador to Bahrain Iain Lindsay. She discussed with the British envoy ways of bolstering cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the cultural and tourism fields in light of the function of “Manama as Capital of Arab Tourism for 2013”. She explained that within its next strategy, Manama is keen to be informed about world experiences, stressing the importance of enhancing means of humanitarian and cultural exchange between Bahrain and Britain and launching projects that foster rapprochement between civilizations and exchange of human values. On his part, Ambassador Lindsay affirmed the need to deepen cultural interaction and communication, lauding Bahrain’s experience and its importance in highlighting the successive civilizations it has hosted throughout history. He added that the choice of Manama as Capital of Arab Tourism for this year is strong indicator of the cultural development and renewed intellectual trends in the region, noting that the “Tourism Capital” event is based on cultural and popular achievements. Mr. Lindsay said that he was looking forward to launching a number of cultural projects and signing a number of new cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Culture on the sidelines of the “Manama as Capital of Arab Tourism for the year 2013”.
