Dubai - Wam

In accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Finance Minister of the UAE and President of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the 14th edition of WETEX 2012 will include for the first time, participation by vital business aspects of the oil and gas technology sector in a new section called Fossil Fuels. As a global, leading exhibition in Water, Energy, Technology and Environment (WETEX) 2012, which is scheduled to take place from 13th to 15th March, will explore fossil fuels and all related activities including exploration companies, gas and oil prospecting, drilling, excavating, extracting, production, transfer, refining, distribution and exporting. In addition to industry-related activities, professionals, experts, developers and investors from across the fossil fuel sector will attend the exhibition. "This year, we will give special focus to state-of-the-art technology in the energy sector. This includes fossil fuels, the generation of electricity by nuclear power, renewable energy and the intelligent networks with high efficiency and reliability. In addition, we will be giving special focus to the water technology industry including desalination, waste management, conservation, saving the environment, green buildings, and solutions to reduce carbon emissions. WETEX 2012 will benefit from the exchange of ideas and experiences, as well as promoting and encouraging the latest developments and best practices in the energy sector," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). "Despite the diversity of energy resources now available in the world and the implementation that is already underway in the renewable energy sector, indicators show that fossil fuels, especially oil and gas, due to their contribution to the total energy supply, will remain as the largest generator of energy in the coming decades. However, achieving sustainable development whilst using these resources requires the implementation of many measures, such as the rationalization of energy consumption, improving efficiency and limiting the damage caused to the environment and natural resources pollution including water, air and soil. To achieve this, we will concentrate on state-of-art-technology in the energy field by diversifying our strategy to include fossil fuels, generating electricity by the nuclear power and renewable sources," added His Excellency. According to the ExxonMobil report (Outlook for Energy: A View to 2030), statistics show that the diversity in energy resources will continue in the coming years. It also indicated that, based on global economic growth at an average rate of 3.5%, the demand on energy will increase by 1.7% annually until 2030, by when there will not be significant changes in the current direction of the policies and technologies. To address the diversification of the energy industry, WETEX 2012 aims to attract personnel from every component of the industry (such as academic, engineering, technology and economic solutions) to exchanges views with Governmental organizations and decision-makers and keep up to date with the latest innovations in the energy, water, technology and environment sectors. It is anticipated that WETEX exhibition seminars and discussions held on a variety of energy-related topics will be highly-successful in bringing together a large number of experts, scientific views, studies and forecasts in the energy field. The aim of seminars is to strengthen networking opportunities between visitors and sectors through presenting the latest state-of-the-art technologies, techniques and solutions that will help to conserve energy and water with the help of eco-friendly goods and services, which will play a major role in building a sustainable future.
