Baghdad – Jaafar Al Nasrawy

The Iraqi Company “South Oil” announced on Saturday that it has established a new network of pipelines to transport crude oil from “Toba warehouse” in Basra governorate to the marine export outlets on the Gulf. It further asserted that this network guarantees the export operations. The General Director of the company, Jaafar Diaa, told Arabstoday: “The speciality of the new network does not lie in its length, as it was just created by linking a group of pipelines, but it is also important because of its ability to export oil in case of any defect in the coastal warehouse “Fao.” Jaafar pointed out that Iraq was relying only on the coastal warehouse “Fao” in pumping oil to the ports, but, for the first time, it is now possible to pump oil directly from Toba warehouse. He noted: “The new network has increased the stability system of export through the ports. Moreover, any malfunction that may happen to Fao warehouse will halt the export process.” He confirmed that the export system through the Gulf is reassuring and it can tackle all expected increases in production. Basra is considered one of the most productive governorates of oil. Iraq signed contracts with foreign companies in 2010 to develop some oil fields in order to raise the production to 11 million barrels per day during the next four years in addition to raise the production to 12 million barrels per day after adding the quantities produced from other fields by national effort
