Azerbaijan plans to supply in Russia three billion cubic metres of natural gas in 2013, President of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev said on Friday. “We have got a contract signed with Russia’s Gazprom for the delivery of three billion cubic metres of gas a year. In 2012, SOCAR exported only 1.5 billion cubic metres of gas in Russia, due to the decline of gas consumption in the summer period,” Abdullayev was quoted by Itar-tass as saying. “There are no problems with the hike of gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Russia,” he said. Besides, the SOCAR president stated that the company is not going to sign another contract with Gazprom on the gas supplies in 2013. “We already have the relevant contracts. There are no plans to ink addenda,” Abdullayev said, explaining that a new document should be signed only in the case if it should be updated. “We signed a new contract with Russia’s side every year, as the amounts of export changed. However, this year there is no need to do so, as there were no changes [in the amounts],” the SOCAR president said. SOCAR, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, is one of the world’s leading companies in the hydrocarbon industry today. The company’s activities comprise the complete value chain from search, exploration and drilling of oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan over processing, refinery and production to transportation, delivery and selling of the products to domestic and foreign markets.
