The World Bank has announced Friday an additional funding of 900 million U.S. dollars to support Emerging Senegal Plan. The announcement was made by Bertrand Badre, the Managing Director and World Bank Group Chief Financial Officer, after a three-day visit to Senegal. The World Bank's resident representative Vera Songwe called for transparency in the utilization of the loan. According to official statistics, the total volume of World Bank's support to Senegal has reached 1.2 billion dollars. The Emerging Senegal Plan was presented on Feb. 24 in Paris to Senegal's financial partners who promised to fund it. Through the plan, Senegal hopes to become an emerging economy by the year 2035.
