Alex Kremer has been appointed new head of the World Bank's representative office in Belarus, the World Bank's representatives told the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, BelTA.
Mr. Kremer met with First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky and Belarusian Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky yesterday and discussed the implementation of ongoing investment and consulting projects of the World Bank in Belarus and priority avenues of cooperation as part of the development of the World Bank Group's new strategy for partnership with Belarus in 2018-2021.
Previously Alex Kremer was in charge of the World Bank's representative office in Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan.
Over the entire period of the World Bank's cooperation with Belarus (1992-2017) the World Bank has invested over $1.6 billion in a number of significant infrastructure projects and social projects in Belarus. The bank's current portfolio in Belarus includes eight projects with credit resources to the tune of $930.7 million and three projects with grants to the tune of $7.7 million.
