The European Central Bank said Friday the bank would roll out new denominations, starting with a 5 euro note in 2013. "The new series, called Europa, features a portrait of Europa -- a figure from Greek mythology after whom the continent was named -- in the watermark and in the hologram," the ECB said in a statement. The banks said the 5 euro note would be put into circulation in May. Other denominations that take advantage of technological progress will circulate, along with the original set of euro notes, which will be phased out, ThinkSpain reported. "The date when the old notes will no longer be legal tender will be announced in plenty of time," the bank said.
