The 5th international conference on islamic banking and finance …risk management, regulation and supervision will start in Amman tomorrow, Saturday and runs until Oct.8. A press release issued here Friday said the three-day conference is organised by Central Bank of Jordan, in collaboration with the Islamic Research and Training Institute, the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The objectives of the conference include; taking stock of the relevance of Islamic banking and finance for financial and banking stability, studying the unique risks of Islamic banking and finance and facilitating the development of risk management culture in the Islamic financial institutions by prudential regulation and effective supervision in the light of the emerging Islamic financial architecture. Original empirical and theoretical papers of high quality will be presented to the conference addressing the following themes; financial stability; comparative financial systems; unique risks of islamic modes of finance; islamic financial architecture; ifsb standards & basel ii and its implications for islamic banks; risk management instruments and systems; corporate & shariah governance; unresolved fiqhi issues in islamic banking and finance; case studies in regulation and supervision of islamic banks;financial inclusion & financial sector development policies.
