Apple may be testing motion control features that would allow users to control their iPhones by moving their heads, a U.S. tech-watching website reported. 9to5 Mac reported the feature has been detected in the developer version of Apple's upcoming iOS 7 operating system. It is listed as an option in the Accessibility menu that overrides the usual touchscreen controls in the OS, which is not yet available to the public, CNN reported Thursday. The front-facing iPhone or iPad camera would detect head movements, like turning from side to side, which can be assigned to different tasks such as returning to the main home screen, displaying notifications or activating the Siri voice assistant, 9to5 Mac reported. Controlling the phone interface with head movements could aid people with limited mobility or other disabilities that make touch or voice interfaces difficult to use. Motion control options have appeared in smartphone before: the Samsung Galaxy S4 can move screen pages up or down by detecting when a user's eyes look up or down.
