Under the auspices of Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who delegated Chairman of Bahrain Internet Exchange, Colonel Mansour Mohammed Al-Hajiri to attend the opening session of the First Technological Innovation Conference (InnovTech) 2013, at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, which is scheduled to continue its sessions for two days, in the presence of foreign experts and approximately 400 academics and students interested in the technical innovation. This conference is the first gathering of its kind for specialists in the innovation field to be held in Bahrain, where it sheds light on technical innovations and their impacts on the sector of information and communication technology. Colonel Al-Hajiri, in his speech, asserted supporting innovation and development in the field of information and communication technology. President of the Bahrain Society for Technological Companies, Obaidli Al-Obaidli stressed, in his speech, the conference highlights the innovation methods and strategies that aim at finding innovative solutions, where relations between the innovators and decision-makers can be established. He added the government aims to improve the quality of technical products and services, and to make of Bahrain a regional center for innovation, which requires intensified efforts of those concerned in this area, noting innovations have become the focus of the success of all projects within the scope of the information and communication technology. Col. Al-Hajri, at the conclusion of the opening session, honored the sponsors of the conference and awarded the first three winners in the national contest (e-Shabab 2013). The opening day witnessed several working papers and a workshop titled (the reality of innovation in the GCC countries and the potential for development), in addition to a speech delivered by an expert in the field of innovation, David Ulmer and author of (the extinction of innovators), in which he reviewed the methods of transformations which can improve the performance of companies. The Conference is being organized by Work Smart Company, in cooperation with the Bahrain Society for Technological Companies and sponsored by Bahrain Development Bank and UNIDO.
