In a bid to ensuring protection of data and safety of information for a new project undertaking by the Sharjah Department of eGovernment (DeG), it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) on Monday, at the Sharjah Government pavilion at the GITEX Technology Week 2016.
Representing a blueprint for a new security protocol that will be implemented by Etisalat, the MoU bears testimony to DeG’s continued efforts in their mission to secure Sharjah and its high-level information using the latest technological innovations and sophisticated software.
The two signatories of the agreement were HE Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of DeG, and HE Abdul Aziz Taryam, CEO Advisor and General Manager - Northern Emirates, Etisalat.
Stating DeG’s rationale for entering into this agreement, HE Sheikh Khalid highlighted, “DeG is working on developing a new government-based project, which requires some of the most advanced expertise that contribute to the successful development of this project. We have signed this MoU with Etisalat in a strategic move to ensure that we lead the way when it comes to the application and exchange of the most advanced technological expertise in the field of data security and preservation of government information.”
On his part, HE Abdul Aziz said, “The new agreement serves as an opportune moment reflecting on Etisalat’s history for continuously supporting government entities all over the UAE. Our vision is to continuously position ourselves as a leading provider for premium e-services which are dynamic, easy-to-access and safe for all users.”
He added: “We’re truly pleased with Etisalat’s continued support of DeG, who we proudly recognise as one of our oldest and most respected partners. It is due to our longstanding and fruitful relationship that DeG has once again entrusted us with a new and crucial project. Our security services and technical support to them have been no less than premium over the years, and they are pleased to have partnered with us yet again, to fulfil their needs of data security and sustainability in Sharjah.”
DeG Sharjah’s government body entrusted with the responsibility of securing and sustaining all data and information across Sharjah. It does so through its continuous pursuit of creating and implementing strategies, which ensure premium services are provided across all government bodies in Sharjah. A major part of this is characterised by researching innovative security software and partnering with the likes of Etisalat and other key industry experts.
