Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Prof. Klaus Schwab
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Preparing for a future in which entire industries will be altered by new technologies was the focus of a Sunday meeting between Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Prof. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, and Co-chairman of the Global Future Councils.

During the meeting which took place at Madinat Jumeirah, the pair reviewed the latest global developments and technology advances, as well as efforts of governments to keep pace with the 'fourth industrial revolution'.

They also discussed Schwab's latest book, "The Fourth Industrial Revolution," and the role of this revolution in re-defining entire industries due to developments in artificial intelligence, robots, the Internet of Things, driverless vehicles, 3D printing, nanotechnology, biotechnology, energy storage, quantum computing, and more.

According to Schwab, during this revolution the world's governments seek to create a positive impact on societies through sustainable solutions to current challenges facing cities.

Schwab, who is in Dubai to attend the opening of the Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils, thanked Sheikh Mohammed for writing a foreword for the Arabic edition of the book.

He stressed that the UAE's proactive approach to development has earned it a notable global standing in building the future.
