Cairo – Omar El Banouby

Board member of the Egyptian Club al Ahly, Rania Elwany, denied the news about her resignation concerning the hot events surrounding the al ahly team (or red castle), after the Ultras Ahlawy group opposed its participation of the first football team in the local competition. Elwani told Arabstoday that the news about her resignations from the board of directors of Ahly is not true by any means. She stressed that leaving the red castle is not an option for now or in the future. The member of the International Olympic committee added that the president of the club and the board members may attend the “Super” match between Ahly and Enpi in Borg el Arab Stadium to support the red team, but her decision depends on the security conditions. She asked the media to stop mentioning her name in political talks in the country and to be accurate before publishing false information about her position from the current events. Engineer Khaled Mortaga, member of the board in Ahly club, refused to attend the match with other members after being disappointed about the unfortunate events experienced by Egyptian sports. In the same context, the Minister of State for Sports Affairs, Ameri Farouk , attended the match from the terraces of Borg el Arab stadium. Farouk was accompanied by some of the board members of the club and its President Hassan Hamdy. The presence of these members was a message to confirm the return of the Egyptian football games despite the Ultra’s threats.
