The Egyptian parliamentary, Inas Abdel Halim, accused the Ministry of Higher Education of corruption in cultural missions abroad, pointing out that the cultural development sector and missions in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research witnessed wholesale violations of ministerial decisions related to preventing employees from working in cultural missions in Egyptian embassies abroad more than once.

Abdel Halim said, in interview with Arabs Today, that some employees have raised the fact that these missions are a reward for the sons of the heads of the ministry's leadership, explaining that the estimates of expenditure on these missions amount to $ 150,000 per month, which is equivalent to 30 million pounds.

The Egyptian MP pointed out that these amounts can be provided to the State Treasury by appointing Egyptians working in those countries to supervise the examinations of our children abroad.

She added the deputy of the minister, and the head of the Cultural Development and Missions Sector, went to Italy twice to work in the Egyptian Cultural Office in Italy to supervise the examinations, which is a clear violation of the principle of equal opportunities between workers in various departments of the ministry.

Abdel Halim confirmed that the former Minister of Higher Education was ousted due to his courtesy and his appointment of advisers, mostly from Mansoura University, after violating the rules of the coordination office and transferring students who have no right under the name of administrative transfers.

She explained that according to the system of private institutes and private universities, the minister received a reward of 29 thousand out of the total 83 thousand pounds, which were distributed to 30 other of institute's staff, although the Popular Defense Officers and members of the armed forces are the ones who are actually supervising the system of military education in various universities and institutes.

The ministry also appointed the dean of the 10th of Ramadan Institute in violation of the law, who committed gross financial irregularities and received large amounts of money from military education committees.

The spread of these documents resulted in student demonstrations in the courtyard of the institute after the spread of rumors about the collection of additional fees from the students to the Department of Military Education beyond what was agreed between the leaders of the Popular Defense Forces and the Ministry of Higher Education," the MP added.
