The member of UN High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq, Bushra al-Obeidi, described the state of women in Iraq as very harsh.

She added, in exclusive interview with Arabs Today, that the Iraqi woman surrounded by many threats, especially the sexual violence, to the extent that up to the trafficking of women. 


"We are trying to form a committee to prosecute the kidnappers of our women, which led to the suicide of a large number of women out of fear of  capturing, where the number of the kidnapped women by ISIS ranges from 2000 to 3000 women, and there are stories that the number of women up to 5000, while the number of liberated women reached 1,500,"al-Obeidi.

"We were able to coordinate with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, to allocate salaries, as social support, for those who have suffered from capturing included, 750 women, under the umbrella of social protection network Law," she added.

"Among 1500 NGO, there are 100 organizations working in earnest only in Iraq," she stated.

She emphasized that the acceleration of events and facts of intimidation and intimidation that followed the emergence of ISIS in Iraq in 2013, have couraged the girls to walk the other way and establish a "human rights defenders" initiative.

According to al-Obeidi, that there is no accurate statistics reveal the number of Iraqi women abducted by ISIS, but inherlast visit to the Kurdistan region, she met with specialists officials stood by their talk on the matter of fact, where they told her that correctness the reported statistics do not exceed  70-80%, adding that the number of the abducted women by ISIS reached to 1597 women and girls, and is not known if they are alive.

She stressed that they can identify the fact of women's fate after four years at least after Iraq be able to to get rid of organization and liberating areas  controlled by ISIS.

Regarding the organization of courses and awareness' workshops for women, Obeidi confirmed that they organized five, with the participation of 100 journalists, to train them how to transfer the women's issues.
