Radical politician and opposition member Louisa Hanoune has lambasted Islamist Abdallah Djaballah for his meeting with officials from the US and French embassies accusing him of serving foreign interest. Hanoune, the Arab world’s first woman presidential candidate who ran for the post in 1999 and 2004, is known for her nationalist stance and is a fierce opponent of foreign intervention.Abdallah Djaballah who led El Islah before being pushed out of the party is now awaiting approval from Algerian authorities to legalise the newly formed Justice and Development Front (JDF).In a radio interview to state owned chanel Alger 3, the Trotskist Hanoune, known for her deeply rooted antipathy to American politics said that these meetings were worrying and pointed to Hilary Clinton’s speech who welcomed recent election results in neighbouring countries and encouraging those parties to model themselves on Turkey’s AK ruling party. The 57 year old veteran politician, who spent time in Algerian jails for her political activities in the 1980’s described Turkey as a Nato base on which no Arab country should take example.
