The Equal Opportunities Unit at the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry’s Municipalities Affairs’ Under-secretariat held a celebration marking the Bahraini Women’s Day.
The event was held under the patronage of the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, and attended by the representatives of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and the Ministry.
During the celebration, 31 women employees were honoured, and the main achievements of Bahraini women in the field of engineering were highlighted.
The event also featured a short film documenting the achievements of women engineers at the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry.
The honouring crowns the role of Bahraini women in building modern Bahrain, as well in strengthening their full participation in various sectors, based on the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the SCW, to enhance Bahraini women’s status end support their participation in the national development process.
The ceremony affirms the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry’s keenness on supporting empowering Bahraini women, which is reflected in the constructive role they have played in achieving comprehensive sustainable urban development, consolidating food security, improving urban development, as well as in implementing infrastructure and service projects, establishment of facilities and development of municipal services.
