The sisters of the woman killed near the Capitol by Washington police said the woman was not delusional but scared while briefly fleeing authorities. Amy Carey Jones and Valarie Carey, sisters of Miriam Carey, who was killed last Thursday, said their sister was under a doctor's care for postpartum depression and was on medication, but that Carey's doctor was beginning the process of winding down the treatment, NBC reported Monday. The sisters maintain they had never seen signs of delusional behavior widely reported as the motivation for Carey, a Connecticut dental hygienist, to drive to the capital with her 13-month-old baby, crash into a White House security barricade, then lead police on a wild chase where she was gunned down near the Capitol. "She never talked badly about President Obama," Amy Carey Jones said. "She was not walking around delusional, which is what we want the public to understand. She was not delusional." Instead, the sisters said they think their sister was scared after the initial crash, heard gunfire from police and tried to flee to safety. "If you hear gun shots, it's like, 'I'm afraid. I don't want to be here. I want to get out of here. I have a baby in a car,'" Valarie Carey said. "My sister was fleeing. She was trying to figure out how to get out of there." The sisters told NBC they want an investigation into whether police acted properly in their use of force.
