Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development has received in her office at the Ministry in Abu Dhabi, Antonio Guterres, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, Sheikha Lubna asserted that the U.A.E., following the directives of its wise leadership, is aspiring to achieve effective contributions to alleviate the suffering of refugees around the world, as this humanitarian issue relates to the lack of the basic rights of life and threatens human stability and security, which becomes more important for the efforts of the international community in providing the basic needs of refugees. During the meeting, Sheikha Lubna referred to the U.A.E's efforts in addressing this crisis, through various interventions and urgent responses, either by supporting international organisations concerned with refugees' affairs, or by the support and response of the U.A.E's humanitarian organisations to the hosting communities of the refugees. She added that U.A.E's humanitarian response to the Syrian crises is evidence of the U.A.E. responding to the refugees crises. Wherein, since the outset of the crisis, U.A.E. took the initiative to provide all kinds of support to the Syrian refugees, including building the Emirati-Jordanian camp for Syrian refugees in Murijep al Fhoud, and its continued expansion according to the best international standards, provision of education and livelihood services, in partnership with the international organisations, affirming the continuance of the U.A.E.'s support as per the directives of its leadership. For his part, Antonio Guterres, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, acquainted Sheikh Lubna Al Qasimi with the efforts of the UNCRH and the role it is playing in supporting refugees around the world, especially with regard to the Syrian crisis, and the constraints in delivering the assistance to the displaced inside Syria, or the refugees in the neighbouring countries. He commended the U.A.E.'s humanitarian response and valued the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women's Union, President of the Family Development Foundation and Chairperson of the Higher Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Eminent Advocate of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), for supporting this humanitarian issue. At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed on enhancing cooperation and the partnership between the U.A.E. and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in to the future. The meeting was attended by Hazza Al Qahtani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development, Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Under-Secretary for International Development, and Najla Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary for International Cooperation.
