The Egyptian woman was the cornerstone of the January 25 and June 30 revolutions, Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said on Sunday.
On the sidelines of the African Union (AU) summit now held here, Mahlab praised the active participation of the Egyptian woman in the referendum on Egypt's new constitution and presidential elections.
He said he was confident that the Egyptian woman will play a significant role in the upcoming parliamentary elections, he said.
Mahlab further called for supporting a role played by the African woman to ensure success of the African Union's Agenda 2063.
Both men and women in Egypt have the same rights and duties under the new constitution, he said.
Mahlab conveyed the greetings of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to the African leaders. He stressed that President Sisi could not attend the summit due to impromptu appointments.
