Aiming to protect the basic rights and care for children, the future leaders of the country, the cabinet in its weekly meeting Monday endorsed children rights draft law.
"Out of great interest in caring, protecting, guaranteeing proper upbringing, and preserving the dignity children, the cabinet reviewed the children rights draft law," said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah following the cabinet meeting, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
"The cabinet then ratified the bill and referred it to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a prelude to refer it to the National Assembly." Seeking to follow up the situation in Kuwait Stock Exchange, Sheikh Mohammed said that the cabinet had presentations from Capital Market Authority Chief Nayef Al-Hajraf, Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait Mohammad Al-Hashel, Head of the local investment department at the Kuwait Investment Authority Waleed Al-Rawdan about the main factors behind the recent slump in stock prices and the expected impact of oil prices downfall on stock market as well as the proposed measures to catalyze the individuals and institutions investments in the market.
Then, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah apprised the ministers of the outcome of the 133rd meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, held in Doha recently, and tackled the preparations for the upcoming GCC summit, efforts to achieve integration among GCC states, strategic dialogue between GCC and main world blocs, as the latest regional and international developments.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled acquainted the ministers also with the outcome of the meetings held with Moroccan, Jordanian and Yemeni foreign ministers, held on the sidelines of the Doha meeting, to bolster partnership and bilateral cooperation.
He also briefed the cabinet about the GCC foreign ministers meeting with the consultative Commission of the GCC Supreme Council as well as about outcome of the extraordinary Arab Foreign Ministers Council and the Arab Peace Initiative Committee meetings, held in Cairo last week.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the main topics and outcome of the talks held with the Chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation Iyad Ameen Madani during his recent visit to Kuwait. He pointed out that the talks tackled buttressing bilateral cooperation as well as the Kuwait's hosting of the 42nd session of the OIC Foreign Ministers Council in May, 2015.
Earlier, the cabinet was informed about a letter addressed to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The letter focused on efforts to expand bilateral cooperation in various domains and at different levels. It also included an invitation to His Highness the Amir to visit Tajikistan.
It was also informed about two letters sent to His Highness the Amir from the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos and President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer to thank Kuwait's for its outstanding support to humanitarian operations and healthcare services for the needy in the Middle East region.
The cabinet congratulated the United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and heads of the Supreme UAE Union Council on the celebrations of the 43th National Day. It wished the UAE more progress and welfare and stability.
Later, the ministers discussed the main issues on the agenda of the coming National Assembly sessions. They also debated the latest regional and international political developments.
