Dr. Yassine Al-Shahat, the chief medical officer at the Burjeel hospital in Abu Dhabi, said that a team of 20 doctors and specialists have evaluated the case of Egypt’s Eman Ahmed and devised a treatment plan that will begin with certain priorities, the UAE daily Emarat Al Youm reported.

Eman, who was once the world's heaviest woman, arrived in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. She suffered complications during her loss weight treatment while in India.

During a press conference held at the hospital, Dr. Shahat said Eman will not undergo any obesity-related surgeries for the time being, adding that the assigned medical team will focus on physiotherapy to help Eman sit on a wheelchair and voiced hope they can do so within two months.

Shahat also said that Eman began psychological treatment under the supervision of a speech therapist as the aim is to help Eman regain her capability to express herself and communicate with others.

He noted that Eman’s psychological condition has completely changed during the 24 hours following her arrival to Abu Dhabi as she is trying to communicate with others.

Shahat said there’s a medical plan in place to help her eat without a tube and have her eat normal again gradually, adding that decreasing her weight is not the team’s current aim as what’s more important is to rehabilitate her.

According to Shahat, Eman’s health problems include a high fever, severe urine infections and severe bedsores.

Eman had also suffered from a stroke that affected her mobility and she has severe aortic regurgitation, which the hospital will work on treating, Shahat said.

He added that Eman also suffers from many bone-related problems and voiced hope they can treat them with physiotherapy.
