The Central Jakarta District Court has entirely rejected the demurrer filed by defendant Jessica Kumala Wongso in the case of Wayan Mirna Salihins murder during an interim hearing today.
"The defendants demurrer is hereby rejected," head judge Kusworo noted at the Central Jakarta District Court building on Tuesday.
The court will then proceed with Mirnas murder case until the final stage as it has rejected the demurrer filed by the defendants legal team.
"Considering the rejection of the defendants demurrer, the court has decided to proceed with the case involving the accused Jessica a.k.a. Jess," Kusworo stated.
Mirnas murder case trial will proceed with the examination of witnesses and expert witnesses, scheduled to be held after the Eid holidays.
"Due to the Eid holidays, the court will resume on July 12, with the hearing from witnesses and expert witnesses as the agenda," Kusworo noted as he dismissed the court.
Meanwhile, Jessicas attorney Yudi Wibowo said he accepted the judges decision in the court.
"At the moment, we are merely hearing and accepting the judges decisions as it is their turn to explicate their assessment. If the demurrer is rejected, then we proceed accordingly with the evidences and witnesses," Yudi remarked at the court building.
The judges need to be able to prove the initial charges against the defendant, with the corroboration that proves Mirnas murder, he added.
"The subjective element in the case that says Jessica was calm and collected when she deliberately murdered Mirna is baseless and cannot serve as the foundation for the charges leveled against her," Yudi noted.
