The Businesswomen's Committee at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) convened recently under the chairmanship of BCCI’s Board Member Afnan Rashid Al-Zayani. The committee reviewed its work plan and events it will organize in the coming period. Afnan Al-Zayani briefed the panel on her participation in the G8’s Deville Partnership’s economic conference on “The role of Arab women – supporting open economies and inclusive growth,” held in London on June 25 and 26, 2013. The meeting also discussed the on-going preparations for the Gergaoon event to be held at the National Stadium, in association with Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s Office, Social Development Ministry, BCCI, the Business Women Club-Bahrain Chapter and in partnership with the private sector. The Gergaoon festival, themed: “Ramadan Brings Us Together in Love of Bahrain”, will be attended by dignitaries and representatives from ministries and state departments and run from the 5th of Ramadan until the 15th. The function will provide an opportunity for productive families to promote their products. In another context, Al Zayani highlighted the importance of preparing plans and programmes aiming to consolidate women’s participation and access to the membership of BCCI’s various committees.
