London - Arab Today

The World Bank has picked 15 of the 53 proposals submitted by Nigerian universities for final evaluation for its  funded African Centre of Excellence. Thirty proposals from universities in Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Senegal made it to the final stage. Successful applicants will receive $8 million each from the World Bank. The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, who disclosed this at a meeting with Evaluators of the ACE in Abuja on Thursday, said other proposals not shortlisted would be reviewed and submitted to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for local funding. He disclosed that 27 federal universities had already been interlinked with ability for virtual learning environment. Source: Education News
