After offering engineering and management studies, the Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) said it will start a medical college by 2013. "The institute will first start with a 600 bed multispeciality hospital next year and after the approval of Medical Council of India (MCI) we will start the college," said HIT Director B.B.Paira. He said to improve the healthcare situation, "we need more and more quality doctors and for this the government support is necessary." On the Public-Private Partnership model in health sector, he said "we believe only in quality education." "Yes, if the government is looking for PPP model then they should provide us soft loan at 3-4.5 percent interest rates per annum. And there must be no interference by the government in academics." HIT will invest Rs. 300 crore for this project. On the course fee, Paira confirmed that the fee wouldn't be less than Rs. 30 lakh. He said the capacity of the college will be 100 students at the initial stage. By the next year HIT will also start degree course in electrical engineering. Along with this some other new courses will start by 2014-15. The institute will start post graduate course in some of the emerging subjects like Energy Engineering, Nano Technology, Construction Engineering, Design and Infrastructure Engineering in next five years.
